Hurst Shifter Fix

As many of you might know I broke my Hurst short throw shifter last fall. I decided to fix the "weak" link in a really nice shifter. And for you guys tired of blowing your O-rings out and sending your shifter back to Hurst only to do it again later.... Here is the fix.. A new throw rod that eliminates the O-rings. I am looking for interest for me to make a run of these throw rods. All you need to do is remove the old throw rod, Install a delrin bushing in the shifter block then install the throw rod in the shifter ball and socket and install the shifter block back on the throw rod. There is hardly any vibration at cruise but some tranny whine using the pistol grip shifter. If you had the radio on or the windows open I doubt you would hear it. And some vibration at wide open throttle. It really does tighten up the shifter. The shift is far more positive. If you are interested give me a PM...

Listen to me now and thank me later. Buy a big sheet of Dynamat and apply to the following:

shift rod coming from tranny
shifter arms
shifter rear bushing block (all sides, especially the top where it meets the metal cover)
the metal cover (both sides)
the main shifter block where the shift handle attaches (I wrapped the entire assembly)
the shift handle (portion hidden under the boot)

Or, make a new bushing out of any plastic softer than delrin.

I did, no noise, no dynamat, no fiddle fartin around. The only time I get ANY noise is under moderate to heavy acceleration. But under those condidtions I can hear the exhaust more than the shifter. :eek:hyeah:

Shifter mod kit

Hi, can you tell me how to go about ordering your modification kit? I've tried to get in touch but I'm obviously doing something wrong. Thanks for any help. Don't pay any attention to my screen name of 2010SE. I do have a 2013 6-speed R/T now.

For those that do not have this mod for your manual Hurst shifter, pull your shifter and mail it to Larry and have him install it. He can do it in his sleep.

Hello all, The order for more throw-rods is with the machinist. He is giving me a 2 week eta. I will allow preorders if you would like to get your order in. This would be a good idea especially if you want the Hurst shifter with mod installed I can order the shifters ahead of time so I can install the mod quickly. Just contact me at gandkperformance@gmail.com. 70..

Hey Guys, Does anyone in the CA area have a stock shifter they could lend to a customer who is down with a broken shifter? I would really appreciate if someone could help him out as he waits for my next order of throw-rods. His daily driver is down. Thanx 70....

Ah, that's not driving distance but it's shipping distance and would take $12 and get there on Friday. PM me if that would help at all.

Has anyone had any issues with modded shifters developing play over time? I bought mine from Larry well over a year ago and have been running it for about 12k now. Over time, I've developed a bit of side to side play while in gear.(or neutral) I'll admit to being no expert but everything seemed to be as tight as the day I installed it when I checked it earlier today. I just wondering if there have been similar experiences before I throw the stocker back in and take it in to the dealer. I'll clarify. the shifter still shifts beautifully, nice and tight as the first day. I'm just a bit worried about the extra lateral play.
