Hi all,
I couldn't find anything directly comparing these two so thought I'd start a new thread.
I have a 2015 RT Plus. I wanted to get a new exhaust to make it sound more muscle car-ish. I had been waiting for the 2015 Corsa Xtreme to come out, which now has, and the day I was planning on making the purchase I came across the Solo Mach X. The Solo is nearly half the price of the Corsa and the tone seems nice and deep from the few videos I've been able to find of 2015's with Solos. I haven't found many videos from any year that capture decent sound quality of the Solo unfortunately.
My question is, do any of you know how much louder the Solo is likely to be at idle and at WOT versus the Corsa or stock? I'm not necessarily looking for loudness in my exhaust, more tone than anything. If it's a little louder than stock I've got no issue there. I just don't want it to be overwhelmingly loud or annoying to my neighbors or wife for that matter, LOL. Everything I've read says the Corsa Xtreme purrs at idle and cruising but unleashes a beast at WOT. Basically it's controllable.
I've heard the Solo promises no drone, which that's Corsa's big staple anyway. I really like the sound of both, even though they're very different tones. So I'm trying to really base it on difference in loudness itself. Maybe I'm going about the whole thing wrong though.
I want to get one ordered this week, but I'm just not sure which way to go. If the Solo is going to be really loud then I'll def just go with the Corsa. But if I can get that deeper tone without being overwhelmingly loud, I'm going Solo.
UPDATE: Ordered the Solo for my 2015 RT and should arrive today.
However, I got quite a surprise this morning. I called my local muffler shop (a very well respected and known shop) and they were very reluctant to even take the job on. They advised that based on their past experience with Solo that the product wasn't made well, fit very poorly, and a lot of movement under heat. Honestly, I was completely shocked as I was unable to find many negatives about Solo in my few weeks of research prior to ordering. Most everyone seemed to give it praise - especially Challenger folks.
Now I'm kind of nervous about the whole thing which sucks as this should be something to be excited about.
Just curious if anyone has heard of anything like this before? I'm having it installed later this week so hopefully it goes off without a hitch.
UPDATE: Solo exhaust installed this morning.
So I got the exhaust installed this morning. There was some work that had to be done on the fit. On one side the brackets did not line up right so there was some re-work/welding that had to be done. On the other side, the exhaust was very tight against the under-frame (for lack of a better word). They adjusted the best they could but its really tight there. The ABS line was laying on the pipe so that was tie-wrapped out of the way.
Other than that, I did go with some custom tips. I LOVE these things, they look awesome. The shop sells all varieties of custom tips they make, but I thought these looked the best.
Overall sounds really tough, sounds like a muscle car now and the tips are the cherry on top. Really wish the fit didn't have the issues we did, but I'm glad I went to a competent shop that can fabricate things on the spot. Will try and grab some video this weekend.
BTW, that is a Hellcat in the background in the second photo. It belongs to the owner of the shop. Cool stuff.
Whatcha think? :grin2:
