They are open to the same extent as manually selecting Sport Mode. When I double press the Drive Modes button, the display switches to the Drives Modes screen and shows Sport for Traction and Steering, which is what I selected for my Custom Mode and all I get with the M6.
Thanks. I am going to try it.

on the A8 models it makes the throttle rather touchy - I suspect that if there were different drivers:

one uses in standard mode (say this is the spouse) and the other would use Sport mode

if the driver that isn't accustomed to Sport mode (for engine / trans) got in - they might get a lot more throttle than they expect...and run into something

I did some testing on this. Custom does not do the same thing as sport or track. Car seems quieter and the throttle response does not change in custom from what I see. You can change the suspension steering and traction on manual 6. If I want some noise or throttle response which i like i have to select sport mode or track mode. Seems like custom only changes the values you can see on the screen from my testing.

On my 21' SPWB M6 in Custom Mode with steering, traction and suspension set to Track, the AEV's are definitely open all the time.
Very easy to tell switching back and forth to Normal Mode.
Maybe it's the option packages I have?

If you always run in sport mode you will not hurt anything correct
In sport mode the TSC is turned off, so beware of that. I used to have my custom mode have TSC off, until I almost lost it going left from a stop while spinning the rear wheels. If I get into trouble by losing traction for whatever reason, the TSC steps in. It's the only "nanny" mechanism I typically leave on.

Agreed, on my 2018, I have Sport mode set for engine/transmission ONLY. ESC/TC is untouched. And I have steering/paddles set the same in both "Normal" and "Sport" so the only thing that changes is exhaust/throttle response/shift points. If I want to disable ESC/TC as well, I just hit that button. I never want to turn that off unless I am in full on Hoon mode.
I remember on the Charger Forums back when I had my 2006, people actually posted how they would defeat it on an R/T and fully disable everything, then have the nerve to post how they totaled their car on an off ramp at 70MPH. I would hope that insurance would check the car and say "You intentionally defeated a safety device specifically for that type of event, tough luck, no money for you"

I thought you still have TSC in Sport Mode.
Only Track Mode defeats it entirely.
From the drive Modes Supplement:
Sport Mode is a configuration set-up for typical
enthusiast driving. The Transmission and
Steering are both set to their Sport settings. The
steering wheel Paddle switches are enabled.
Traction Control defaults to Normal.

Oops, that's for the 1320 Drag Mode.
Here is for the Scat:
 SPORT
Press the Sport button on the touchscreen to
turn off traction control and reduce stability
control

One thing I've noticed on my SPWB. I've NOT been turning the MDS off because I wanted to see the effect on gas mileage. The bottom line is, my mpg is the same with or without it, so no way am I going to leave it on.
False in my case.
Significant difference in MPG when I turn it off.....especially on the highway.

Just did a 535 mile trip today which ended about 45 minutes ago.
Got 24.7 MPG overall using MDS going 80-90 MPH alot of the way. Wouldn't get that in sport mode, .... no way.

The 392 kicks out of MDS around 72mph, at least it does on mine.

2k road trips in Sport Mode only, net 25+ mpg average with the SP.

Just saying.

In my case, it's all around town and brief highway so the mileage doesn't vary. I've yet to take a long highway trip for comparison, but maybe the wide body tires lower mpg? The other thing is my car's still new, so the drivetrain's barely broken in. I've always thought these cars get quicker and run better after an oil change and a few thousand miles.

I forgot to mention, that 24.7 MPG was with the AC running 90% of the time. I've gotten around 26 before.

Not sure why yours would kick out of MDS on the freeway.
When in sport mode, mine stays on sport mode til I turn it off when on the freeway. Sport mode is great around town but it does get worse mileage but not by much. Nothing worth mentioning anyways.

Yep, they settle in IMO.

Both my previous R/TC and present SP seemed to really settle in by 25k- 30k miles.

Hard to describe, but feels SO good and solid.

2021 Scat Pack M6 - Any way to keep Sport Mode as the default setting? I've been having to reset it to Sport Mode every time I start it - thanks!
I just consider it as part of my preflight check list. Push brake, push start, push sport, push control and make all those settings depending on season etc., plug in phone, music selections, put it in gear and pull out of the garage. Anybody remember just turning the key, releasing the park brake, putting it in gear, and driving away?

But MDS feature only applies to 8 spd. auto Challengers? So It's the same? Just make sure you start it in sport mode?
