Well, the 2nd set of Felpro corrected production date had several pop off. I could kill somebody. Happy New Year for me.

How did the OE seals go on in comparison? Did you have to tap them on? Cylinders #8 & #7 on the car don't give much room back there for movement eh?.

I always oil coat the valve stem and use a straw, and lube the seal lips with Q-Tips but now I'm thinking of cleaning the stem post mounting boss and leaving that part of the seal dry. Please share your work flow? Did the OE's go on firmer?

I had a dealership try to sell them to me for $8.00 each instead of a pack of 8, (53022090AB) one for each head. I'm gonna have to complain to FCA I guess.

Thanks
I got them from Steve white, they're on the forums here. Use code Cha1 I believe that's our forum discount code. Well worth the investment.
You'll notice the oems fit a little snugger on the top of the guide and a little looser on the valve. I actually didn't even use a straw or any kind of lube. You should feel them snap in and it's a much more satisfying snap than I had felt with the aftermarket brands. You also won't be able to pull the seal off by hand when it's on.

Thanks! I'm getting good at tear it id down now, mercy!
Oh trust me I know the feeling, I got to the point I could go from fully assembled to a valve spring completely off within 10 minutes.

So did you worry about oil residue on the mounting bosses? I kind of think they squeegee it off anyways as pushed on.
Yea with the correct seal it's honestly very straightforward just pop it on and forget about it

So you ordered the p/n in 2ea. and got two bags of seals, 8 pieces in each? Thanks.
I remember it being 1 each. I only needed 4 since all the 12 other felpros never had an issue even to this day. (53022090ab) that's the part #

Yeh, its dealer specific. The Mopar parts catalog says the p/n quantity is per head. That would mean in packs of 8. They are opening the bags and selling each seal for the same price or more than a pack of 8.

I just can't get a break.....

Well........... Sigh..... I finally am done with this issue. I skipped the OE seals and went with a friends recommendation on Comp Cams 531-16 (16 being quantity). They push on very firmly and need a little tapping for the last 1/8". And yes I'm aware the barrels do not bottom out on the boss lands.
I'd like to share how I deal with getting the exhaust valves fully seated. Its cramped because they point at the fenders.
I use a Snap-on VST1435 spring compressor and an adapter I made to press them on. I'm a machinist so I made one custom for the Comp Cams seals. The right socket may work otherwise

I slip the new seal on as far as I can push it by hand, put the adapter on the seal and swing the compressor fork over and screw it down until I just begin to feel feed back in the wrench.

The compressor in action on an intake valve.

Yeah the space in there gets tight and the leaning into the bay can also be a pain especially if you have a spare tire.

BTW are you the same "gapi" from the LX forum?

Yes, and I remember ticking you off and regret it. I read your replies and deserved them. Too ashamed to reply further. That was a rare thing for me. If you could see my history you would find its no a habit.
I hope you can let me slide out of it.

No worries man, water under the bridge. I should have had some thicker skin myself, besides I read other posts from you at the time and was like...oh this member is actually alright. I was just asking because earlier today I was reading up on the master alfa thread to help another member. Actually I read this thread first thinking...poor guy really had some bad luck with the seals. Then I was like...hold on that name is familiar, and here we are. Welcome to the forum and glad you got your seal dilema squared away. I have a JGC with some high miles on it an plan to do a cam swap in the next year or so and was thinking of swapping the seals. So your whole experience comes in handy.

I want to say thanks for this discussion. I'm doing finishing off the heads from my 2011 Ram and thought I was losing my mind as I watched the Fel-Pro seals levitate off the stems an hour after I installed them. Glad I did not rush and reassemble. Guess I'm waiting on the comp cams because no way in hell I'm paying 160+ to the dealership for stock.

Anyone know if there is a seal installer tool available for these HEMI valve seals? Multiple companies make a tool for the GM LS seals but I can't find something like gapi made above that says it's specific for stock size valve seals or these comp 531 seals.

Hi, I made that because with heads on and engine in the car, its a major PITA to get a good little tap tap swing with a socket and small hammer, and because I am a machinist so it was convenient to make.

These Comp Cam seals are pretty snug fitting. You can get away with just pushing them on until they stop.

BUT - If you are going to be using the spring compressor tool like mine, send me your address and I'll send you the bushing.
