Did the 6th place alpha code change with the refresh in '15?
My '14 has a "Y" in that place and not the "Z" listed above.

turns out our car is a RT with the 3.6l
we were told and sold a SXT Plus

2015? The SXT and R/T do share the same VIN but standard and plus have a different character to denote. The engine codes are also different, G for 3.6 and T for 5.7.

That info is on your door sticker, has the month date and hour.

How do I find out what year it was built?

 

Nothing in the VIN will tell you,

Edit: Brain fart, of course the VIN tells you the year. The 10th character is the year. F for 2015, G for 2016, H for 2017 etc

the build sheet from your dealer will or look on the door sticker, gives the month and year, and also month day and hour.

Mine built Jan of 16, finished at 10 pm on Jan 16th.

My 6th and 7th are ZG. Not ZA even though it has a 3.6L on it. I guess it's because it has a different drivetrain?

I was decoding my vin and my 6 and 7 letters a.r.e 5D ..... not in the decoding list of options. It's a 2011 rt plus, just wondering if you had any thoughts.

 

Look my 6 and 7 digits are 5D please if you can help me figure this out....

 

The early years could be slightly different as to brand, body or style identifiers but yours is consistent with a 2011 R/T.
