Couple things: Thanks Slidd, you have my son really pumped. He has been very patient.

On retirement----you guys won't believe how awesome that is. I have been retired for 6 years and I still have to pinch myself to be sure I'm not dreaming.

It's interesting that I see posts where so many people talk about how much they love B5 Blue and how everybody thinks it's just the best color ever. However, seeing a B5 Blue Challenger in the wild is almost like a unicorn. If it's so loved by the masses, why aren't there more of them on the streets? Most people who rave about how beautiful it is, own other colors.

My first Challenger was a new, '13 Jazz Blue R/T. That car got way more stares, waves, and comments from folks than I've ever gotten with my '16 B5 Scat Pack.

Well, I still think it's incredibly awesome and I'm also happy that you don't see many on the streets. I love being "different" and feeling like I have something of an "exclusive". If I wanted to be like everybody else, I'd have a black car.

While a lot of B5's were made in '15, and the first half of '16, I sure don't see many up in my part of the wilderness either.

I'll see one on occasion going down the Interstate, but locally, I'm the only one in the sticks!

Perhaps I should chime in with the ol’ 2016 Challenger SXT Plus in ye olde B5 Blue :grin2:

Trading my '18 Destroyer SXT Plus Blacktop in to lease this A8 B5 T/A Plus on Saturday. T/A has Performance Handling Group, Tech pack, Driver convenience group, Nav, HK stereo, sunroof and hood pins, $51,399 MSRP.

The T/A has been on the lot for 6 months (same as the Pitch Black T/A Plus next to it, same options except has red calipers and no sunroof). That's just a lot of money for a 5.7 T/A (dealership ordered 5 Pluses in that same config, Granite, DG, Mango, B5 and PB), and customers just walked on by. They sold the Mango somehow last October, dealer traded the two grays last month, and are still stuck with the other two, while every SP and every other variation of 5.7 R/T 2018 models are gone (including several T/A 5.7 non-Plus, and T/A 392 units). Hell, we've only got one '18 SXT left. They want these two T/A units gone as well. Especially since every 2019 R/T got the same basic hood and Super Track Pack (and Alcantara sport seats in the Plus) as standard, making the '18 T/A even harder to sell to "looks" and performance buyers.

(side note, that's a used '17 white Scat Pack with 5k miles behind the B5 T/A, traded in on a Pacifica Hybrid if you can believe it!)

So with FCA discount (yeah, I work there), huge dealership discount(a real loser deal), crazy low lease money factor, decent residual and $3750 lease cash, I'll be rolling in the near-max optioned T/A for $70 less monthly (even after insurance increase!) than my $37,540 MSRP SXT Plus.

Love my SXT Plus, really do, all the toys and a great daily driver, but she's not a V8, and back when I bought the SXT Plus, I had pretty high credit card utilization that hammered my FICO score down to low 600 and landed me a crap interest rate and corresponding crap payments. I've since cleared that up and gotten over 700 again, so I can get MUCH better lease or finance rates, and flipping this into a T/A lease makes more sense for me than doing a re-finance, especially considering how much negative equity I have in the SXT. After rebates and discounts the SXT was over $5k back of sticker, AND I had a clear $3000 ACV trade and $1k cash down, so I only financed $29k, but all the SXT models just nose-dive in value, even my loaded-out one.

So, B5ing (orT/Aing) for a few years and I'll be all set in 2021 to jump into the next LX refresh. :)

Its been an observation that B5 in both T/As or Shakers isn't that common...don't know why, but buyers that want that color don't go for those models.

Part of the matter is the T/A 5.7 package adds some $$ to the price and either that or folks don't gravitate towards all that blackout treatment so much.

Look around and you see the world of bland cross-overs in Silver, Gray, Black or White. That's what the automotive landscape looks like nowadays.

Pretty bleak.

I went into downtown a few weeks back for an interview - in the parking garage on one entire floor. It was that scenario I described. An entire level in a 10 story parking garage...not a conventional car / sedan, van or truck.

Wait a minute, are those 392 badges on your 5.7 car?
Ha! Yes, that is the case. I'm the 2nd owner and evidently the original owner didn't want to pony up for the scat pack so he fudged it. I like the look of the badges and I don't really want to pry them off the paint so I left them. They do make the car drive faster. :wink3:

It's a pretty uncommon color for the T/A to be sure, Only 153 B5s were made across all three trim levels, putting it at #12 of the 15 colors in 2018 , with the majority of them being the 392 models. They only made 64 B5 5.7 T/A units across US/Canada. My Plus is one of 29, and if it was a manual, it would be one of 3. :)

No prying required. Fishing line will saw right through the adhesive foam.

Should come of with zero damage to your paint. as mentioned, fishing line and I think dental floss will even work. To make it easier, heat it with a hair dryer. If you like the look, you can find red "345" adhesive emblems to put in their place online. Amazon or eBay is a good place to start.
