Which Challenger Looks Better to You, 2014/earlier or the 2015?
Sorry guys but someone had to ask this question -

For me it's the 2014, and it's not just because I just bought a new 2014. I really like the look of the 2014 interior/exterior.
I like the single grill pieces instead of the newer twin grill pieces. I have to admit the new tail lights on the 2015 are cool though.
The 2015 interior look cool but for me it's a little futuristic, I like the older style look [Flat dash, Simple] I know I know but I do -
I like the 2014 manual center console over the 2015 somewhat wrap around console. On the 2015 it looks like the AC/Heat controls are right in front of the auto/manual shifter which might be hard to operate while driving?
I believe that the Black Top package or the Red Line package will not be available for 2015 - What's up with that?

What do you think?

2015... The Scat Pack Shaker had me DROOLING. But I came to my senses and decided to hold onto my '13 R/T Plus for a while longer.

The AFR shaker on the 5.7 looks better than the new shaker IMO. It is incredible and a lot more affordable than trading. Check out AFR Autoform Racing Facebook page as I just saw he posted a picture of an R/T with the shaker. To be fair, the Cervini shaker looks pretty good too... If you like the shaker you owe it to yourself to check out the quality aftermarket ones.

Same!!!! LOL

I like a 392 shaker with Brembo brakes and SRT suspension. That stance, the front and rear facia improvements, and the interior re-design all get a thumbs up from me.

I too prefer the pre 15 style but most would say its because mine is like that. Due to the new one having a large lower opening it looks like a wall of plastic, I think with the adaptive eye it looks even worse.
You're correct the dash looks to modern for a retro car and the controls in front of the shifter wasn't well thought out. My rear lights are one of my favorite parts of the car.
That being said I hope whoever likes the new one better enjoys their car as much as I do mine.

2014< CURRENT MODEL- WHY?

The new hood's over emphasized lines and too big front scoop look a bit cartoonish. Rear spoiler not an improvement. Shaker is not a 2015 only option, obviously. Classic- ours- interior is heritage inspired, new one is not. I think the 8 speed auto is going to be nice, though. Really surprised the Dodge cheaped out and didn't up the H/P on the R/T to 415. Shorty headers, a cam revision and a tune could of done it.

I think that if the 2015 was the current model, and the 2014 was replacing it, there would be allot of positive reviews about how much more sleek and retro it was. Hard to improve on perfection.

I was waiting to see what 2015 would yield, and after seeing it, I've decided to hang on to my 2012 392. To me, the changes to the front/rear fascias and the tail lights are a push - I like them, but not any more or less than those on my car.

What I really don't dig about the 2015s are two things: the interior and wheel choices. I feel the interior is too modern for a retro muscle car. While it looks nice, to me it belongs in the Charger or the Chrysler 300, NOT in the Challenger. The inside of my car is plain and simple, just like a muscle car interior should look.

My other gripe, the wheels, is very simple - why am I limited to black wheels on a new SRT?! Not one factory forged or cast aluminum finish option? Really??

My thoughts exactly. As I mentioned elsewhere, I just traded my 2010 in for a 2014. One of the deciding factors was the look of the 2015s.

I told the sales guys my thoughts on the interior, and said "it's a pity, but if I wanted a Charger interior, I'd buy a Charger". He told me he's hearing that a LOT.

That said, my wife drives a beautiful 2012 Charger. The 2015... HORRIBLE. Looks like a Dart on steroids. Why???

Only thing I like about the 2015 is some of the dash, the upgraded radio system is the only thing I REALLY like, I agree the climate control knobs are in a bad place but the radio is in that same place on my 92 Camaro and I deal with it. The 8-speed might be a good thing or it could be a huge mistake, a 6-speed with about the same 1st gear ratio and a .5 overdrive would have been better. The front with the huge cartoonish smile is a huge turn-off for me, the hood has the vents too far forward and it just don't look right, the rear I could live with but I don't like it. I'm keeping the 2012 I have for a long time!!!

The exterior, after 7 years needed a refresh. Both designs look great, but I prefer the pre-2015 because it is cleaner and more representative of the most desirable Challenger- the 1970.

See what the exterior designer, Jeff Gale has to say about the 2008 model.

Thank you for your Post Cuda340 -
I watched the videos on the making of the first Promo/Auto Show Challenger and on the final production cars.
After watching the Videos I came to realize that the 2015 Challengers was the first model/design that they came up with, but ended up going with another design which we came to known now [2014/earlier]
I found this to be very interesting, I suggest watching these documentary videos, you can find them on our Form [Challengertalk.com]

Mixed feelings, for instance...........

I like the exterior styling far more on the 2014, and older, Challengers. I am, however, very keen on the implementation of the 8-speed automatic transmission -and- prefer the new (2015) interior to the current design.

Regards,

Gary aka "beamg5"

Yep I agree 100%

I would have both in my driveway! I'm partial to 14 styling but the 15 has grown on me, except for that big smiley face on the front.Maybe that will grow on me too in time????
Both are awesome muscle cars either way.

I like the both with a slight favor to the '15, cars need to evolve & that's what this is. The '70 evolved into the '71 & so on until it was discontinued. Look at it this way, the 70-74 engine technology (HP) went down, interior stayed pretty much the same. The new generation of cars are getting better in all ways. Just as long as they don't reintroduce the Mitsubishi Challenger from the late 70's/80's we'll be ok.

I hope that ^^^ never happens either...I still try to block that out of my mind.

The '78-'79 Dodge Magnum and the '80-'83 Dodge Mirada were about the only cars from that era that were palatable.

But they got so heavy and power was down so much (primitive engine management and 85-87 octane gas of that era) that even with the 400 B-block, the Magnum wasn't winning any races.

I now want a third Challenger, a 2015 Shaker, either Torred or Sublime or Plum Crazy. Three would just be stupid wouldn't it?

I also like the 2015 interior better but I like the older tail lights, the 392 + 8 speed auto are great. I might have to wait until the "smiley" face grill turns upside down (under the front bumper). By then the Challenger will have 950 horsepower!!

I think most people who like the new style on this or any car for that matter, is due to having gotten used to the old model styling. New just looks better because it's different. At first I did not like the 2015 because I thought the front fascia looked comical and the rear just did not look right with the black trim at the bottom being raised and the gap of gloss black between the lights. Also, the gauge cluster may be reminiscent of old muscle cars, but not from the original Challenger, more like from the '60s. But, I guess it has to be seen in person. I learned that lesson from the GWE 2011's. I hated that color in the photos but after actually seeing one, I've been kicking myself ever since for passing on it. With the 2015's the photos did not impress me but after watching actual 2015's being driven on Youtube, I have to say it has grown on me. I still like the 2014, but the biggest flaw is that generic looking center console. Someone dropped the ball badly there especially if you look at the 2006 concept model. Also, the hood scoops are too small. The 2015 is more correct on that point.

If you could, please post a picture, I'd like to see what you're referring to.

i have a 13 sxt and love the exterior styling. the 15 doesn't change a whole lot so i like it also, i wish that the 15 could have the sequential turn signals. as for the interior, i like the new gauges and tough screen, only thing I'm skeptical about is the a/c heat etc buttons being behind the shifter. ill have to test drive one to see if they're a bother. that being said i wouldn't mind trading the sxt for a 392 hemi shaker

I think one problem Chrysler has is having gotten it SO RIGHT with THIS design. Ford did pretty well with the 2005 Mustang, and Chevy did okay with the Camaro, but Chrysler just hit the Challenger out of the park. How do you improve on perfection?

I think the same is true of the 1970 Challenger, and subsequent 'refreshes' were not improvements.

Just my opinion, of course.

Pre 2015. They just look meaner and cleaner.
I cant stand the smiley face, bra looking rear spoiler and the phoney "curves" for the bumpers. The bottom rear end looks what mustang has had for years which I never liked.
The hoods and tail lights are ok but aftermarket options for pre 2015 still look better.
I have not sat in the interior but it looks nothing like a "71" as advertised.

I like both. I love the halos and the split tailight on the 2015, and am learning to like the new front lower opening; I am not sold on moving the hood nostrils forward.

The 2008-14 design is just so perfect, especially when they reversed the smile in 2011, and I like the clean, well integrated interior.

I am sure the quality of materials and assembly of the 2015 is beyond anything we have seen so far, but the new interior still looks unnecessarily busy to me.
